Regarding re-use of eclipse solar viewers:
There is no national program at the RASC for recycling solar glasses.
McMaster University has initiated a program with RASC Hamilton for collecting, inspecting, and storing the solar viewers for Astronomers Without Borders.
see their websites:
https://astronomerswithoutborders.org/programs/solar-glasses-distribution and https://astronomerswithoutborders.org/programs/solar-glasses-distribution#collection_node
Updates will be posted as information is received from our counterparts in Hamilton.
Please note that the glass lenses need to be free of punctures, scratches, and bends, and the housing, whether plastic or cardboard, needs to be in good shape. A similar initiative after the 2017 eclipse ended up destroying the majority of the returned solar viewers due to their poor condition.
